This was a fast-paced build from start to finish. The demanding schedule and multi-trade workspace within the fully operational steel mill presented many challenges for our project team. For our electrical team, the project began with the construction of a new steel caster. As a result of our exemplary performance and proven project innovation during the first phase, the second phase tunnel furnace was awarded to us. Now working two projects at once, our onsite crew had to rely on our in-house engineering and fabrication design team to come up with innovative ways to keep everyone safe and on schedule. Throughout the build, we eliminated schedule concerns by trusting in and relying on a strong pre-construction plan.
Among the benefits of a solid pre-construction plan, innovative fabrication played a vital role in the high-quality delivery of the Nucor project. Our engineering team led the process by customizing fabrication plans to fit the unique demands of Nucor’s objectives. Taking into consideration design, timeline, budget, and manpower requirements - our Engineering Team virtually designed 100% of the project via BIM.
Over 90% of the project was manufactured in-house, truly showcasing our advanced modular fabrication capabilities.
