CCCC Library & Sustainable Technology Building
Pittsboro, NC
LEED Certified: Silver
This project is two silver LEED certified buildings; a library and a sustainable technology building. Gaylor Electric implemented innovative personnel procedures to manage the concurrent progress of both structures by clearly defining tasks and applying additional manpower as needed.
The library was designed to be used by both the college and community, featuring a large main library, offices, internet study and meeting rooms. Other characteristics include lighting controls, electrical and mechanical systems monitoring which reports values for technology students.
The sustainable technology building is covered with vegetation on the roof to add to its “green” appeal and includes classrooms for bio-fuel, construction, solar, conservation, reusable materials and culinary arts. Electrical and mechanical systems monitor usage while solar panels and lighting controls are utilized in classroom curriculum.
The electrical scope called for Gaylor Electric to construct the complete infrastructure including lighting, power distribution, fire alarm, power monitoring, telephone, data and security systems.
